Looking for Love? Write an Intriguing Singles Ad to Have Potential Mates Wanting to Know More
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010
Awhile back, I had a friend who owned a singles agency. At the time I was actively looking to meet someone to date, so she let me put an ad in her newspaper and gave me pointers in writing it. She’d worked many years with single people and knew all the ins and outs of how to attract the opposite sex by using just words. Here are some of her tips told to me, that really do work.
Be sure to portray yourself accurately. Don’t put up an image of someone you’re not. And, don’t include a photo of yourself from fifteen years ago. Have someone take a recent photograph of you, and be proud of who you are at this point in time. Don’t lie about your age, height or other personal information. It pays to be as real as possible. People don’t like to feel “tricked”. One man I’d met told me he was thirty and had a thick head of hair. When I met him, he was fifty, with a bad toupee. He was a total fake. Even if he had a good personality, it didn’t matter, he’d lied and I was not interested in knowing someone who lied up front like that. It pays to be honest. Don’t start a possible relationship out on a wrong note.
Being sexual in your description will bring you people looking to get lucky, but chances are, not long-term relationships. Don’t be provocative and sleazy in your description of yourself or in who you are looking for. Keep it clean. Be a class act and you are asking for respect, not drooling perverts. It’s a good idea to get to know a person before allowing intimacy into the mix.
Describe yourself as best you can, using visual and positive descriptions. Don’t be down on yourself, point out your assets. Don’t complain about things, and keep it light. Nobody wants to be around someone who is all gloom and doom. It’s like a job interview. You don’t tell prospective employers about your cellulite, or tough breaks in life. Be even tempered and pleasant.
Whatever you do, don’t discuss your broken heart from a previous relationship or what a jerk your ex is. Don’t mention anything but yourself, your interests and what kind of person you are looking to meet. Leave out the past, because it’s, well, the past. Stay in the now.
Use the bulk of your ad to visually describe yourself and your hobbies. These words are all that represent you, so make them count. We all want someone with integrity, honesty, kindness, etc. Leave those things out, they are “givens”. What kind of music do you like? Are you into the latest music like Justin Timberlake or LL Cool J? Or, do you prefer the older music like the Rolling Stones? Do you have a dog or cat? Do you enjoy football, baseball, or other sports? Desribe it. What do you do on weekends for fun? Be as specific as possible.
Don’t be caught up on superficiality. We all want someone attractive to us. So to put “I want someone attractive” is a waste of writing. If looks are important, nowadays ads have photographs, so you can see who you are meeting. If the person responding doesn’t have an ad, ask him or her to send a photo through the singles’ site email. Try not to give out your personal email if at all possible until you know and are interested in someone. It’s a security thing.
Like when writing a term paper or essay, check over your work before posting your ad. If you need to re-write it to make it better, then do it. If you can include more than one photo of yourself, that will help the other person see what you look like more accurately, especially if one photo is a head shot and the other is a full body picture. Both your description of yourself and your photo will represent you so choose wisely. Nothing risque. Be classy. Be what you want to attract. If you want someone professional, show that you are a professional yourself. If you want to attract a horse lover, take a photo of yourself riding a horse, for example. Again, keep it real.
It takes time, weeding out and lots of effort, but it only takes one “winner” to make it all worthwhile in the end. These tips worked for me when I was dating and they can work for you too. Good luck in your search for that someone special. Be safe, don’t give up and enjoy that special person when you find him or her.

Speed Dating: The Newest Craze For Singles
Monday, August 16th, 2010
Speed dating is the latest trend for singles looking for love. Many agree that dating can be a grueling task, but the minds behind speed dating hope to change that for people. Now, one can look at a night out on a blind date as a hopeful, fun and lighthearted experience.
For those not in the know, speed dating will involve multiple dates in one, a fact that makes most men and women prick up their ears and listen.
The object of speed dating is to offer a person many choices of singles to get to know in a blind date setting. However, the novelty is that each “date” only lasts several minutes each.
What began in the 1990’s as a fad is now a phenomena, as bars and restaurants all over the world are now hosting speed dating events. Usually, this event will be organized by one or several people and roughly 20 or so dates will be arranged for each participant.
The speed dating organizer will instruct the singles where to begin their speed dating experience.
The setting is usually a quiet, romantic room with multiple tables spread out across the floor. Quiet is essential due to the fact that so many people will be rapidly talking at once.
Each person will be placed with his or her first date for the evening and the speed dating clock will start. Like musical chairs, each couple will spend 10 minutes or less with each other before moving on to the next date.
The first question a person ponders when speed dating is explained to him/her is, “How can ten minutes or less be long enough to get to know someone?”
Well, the object isn’t so much for everyone to become really acquainted with each other, but rather to sample a person to see if there is room for attraction or a full-length date.
Those that become involved with speed dating are probably from the school of thought that animal attraction or that “spark” will be there instantly or not at all.
Sitting through a bad 10-minute date is much better than a lifeless evening together.
After each couple have played musical dates for the evening, the speed dating organizer will stop the clock and ask each person for a list of viable candidates to date again.
Personal information is not exchanged during a speed date but if someone decides that they would like to see a person or persons again, the speed dating organizer can handle the arrangements.
Of course, the opposite person may not reciprocate the desire for a full-length date, but such is the novelty of speed dating. It’s easy to cast a fish back into the sea.

Etiquette for Singles
Friday, August 13th, 2010
When a couple part company, their unique ways (of allowing manners to slip) may not be acceptable in the next relationship. With each new relationship, one must start again from the beginning to learn what is acceptable with the next partner.
Each person is looking for a mate who is considerate and will treat them with respect and loving care. In the embryo stages of a relationship or even before that, one can hardly show love. The simplest way to show one’s respect and consideration is with good manners.
At a luncheon at the Hyatt, I found myself sitting between the vice chancellor of one university and a professor from another university. I thought to myself, “What am I going to talk about to two such learned gentlemen?” So I asked them what was the most important lesson I could teach my grandchildren.
They hummed and hawed for a few minutes so I told them that Mia Farrow asked the British Queen Mother the same question to which she replied, “Good manners”. The vice chancellor said, “She would say that, she was so old fashioned. What she means is respect.” The professor agreed.
So I gather from the remarks of these learned gentlemen that good manners are another term for respect. We all want respect from a partner and we like to think we treat others with respect but knowing how much respect and how to show it is a mute point.
Women’s liberation has been responsible for some women, objecting to displays of good manners, yet still expecting respect. For the average fellow this makes it difficult to know where to draw the line. My advice to single men is to assume all women are expecting you to demonstrate your very best manners. Do not be put off by the odd women’s libber.
Consideration and safety also fall under the good manners banner. No matter how independent she is, a woman likes to feel protected by a man. Offer to walk her to her car if it’s dark, especially in questionable areas. Don’t arrange to meet her in unsafe places. When you have dropped her off after an evening out walk her to the door, wait until you are quite sure she is safely inside.
Old fashioned customs such as walking on the outside of the footpath are part of the mating game. These small practices reveal that you intend to be considerate and respectful.
A man can make his intentions easy to interpret, like the good dancer who knows how to guide a woman. He can say to her, “Wait there till I open the door for you”; “Let me pull out your chair”; “I’ll walk on the outside.” She will feel more confident when she knows what to expect and so will you if your intentions are not misinterpreted.
A woman can also show her respect by giving a man every opportunity to display his manners. She can wait a few seconds to see if he will open the car door for her and allow him to pull out her chair. It is just as respectful to allow him to demonstrate his good manners as it is for him to display them.
Displaying good manners and allowing them is the forerunner for a loving caring, relationship. Especially if you want someone to respect you too. And if respect is the modern term for good manners then it is very important for those who are seeking a partner. Therefore, etiquette is very important for singles.

Where to Meet Singles in Hawaii
Thursday, August 12th, 2010
Anyone mentions the name Hawaii and all you will be thinking for days is fun. This state has fun written all over it with the many beaches that it has and the friendly people that are in it. It is almost impossible to be alone in this state with the so many activities that you can do, and the many places you can go to. Hawaii has a lot of place you can go to and find that great person that you are looking for. It is almost effortlessly and at the same time, a lot of fun. All you need is yourself, your charm and smile. You also need to get out of the house and go to many of the places the singles in Hawaii are known to frequent.
Hawaii has the most beaches in the world. It has beaches like Linikai which is known as the best swimming beach in Hawaii. The Hanalei which is the most beautiful. The Hanauma Bay which is known as a place where a lot of snorkeling takes place. The Hulope beach, Poipu beach and Kaanapali. All these beaches are places where singles in Hawaii are known to go to. If you are serious about find a single person you should make sure you go to these places. Join a group that is playing a game and get to know the people there. They could be having friends that could be of interest to you which if you do not get to know them you might never get to meet with any of them.
Another great place to go is the night clubs, pubs and bars. Hawaii has a vibrant night life. Many people go to these places to take a rest from their office work or their busy lifestyle. When you go out, this is the time to let your hair down or let your guard down and try and have fun with the people in the club. If you do not want to go out alone, you can always ask your friends to join you. You should remember that a group of people is hard to approach than a single person. So once in a while you should separate your self from your friends and try to make new friends. Clubs you can go to include the Blue Ocean Club, Aunty Yong’s place and Espirit Nightclub and meet with singles in Hawaii.
The supermarkets are also a great place you can meet with singles in Hawaii. This is because there are many people who have to do their shopping and what great way of getting it all done than in a supermarket. People frequent here a lot and you might find yourself doing your shopping with some specific kind of people. When this happens, you should try to make friends with them. You might find some great single here and who knows it could lead to something great in future.

Need to Combat Stress and Start Relaxing? – Advice for Busy Singles
Tuesday, August 10th, 2010
To lead a happier and healthier lifestyle, you need to undertake the challenge to make this a priority in your life. The first six weeks of your new lifestyle is going to be the deciding factor which will see you succeed or fail.
If you simply feel too run down and exhausted after a hard day of work commitments to find the motivation, start with changing or adjusting your diet and you will be pleasantly surprised just how quickly your energy levels rise. Research the appropriate food groups, eat the right food and you will have made the first step to changing your life for the better.
Whilst its paramount to combine exercise and a balanced diet to achieve results, you will be pleasantly surprised to learn that 80% of a successful fitness and health kick, starts in the kitchen. You need to prime your body with the correct nutrition in order for you to perform at your peak so you achieve the best results when you start the exercise component.
Finding the time:
The old excuse of not having enough time cant be justified with regards to adopting the right nutrition. If you are pushed for time and are unable to book in to see a nutrition professional, then the internet is all you need. There are many excellent resources online if you do alittle research. Finding the time to fit in exercise for singles and busy professionals can be challenging. Firstly, you don’t need to slave away at the gym everyday to succeed. If your new diet programme remains in tact then just alittle exercise will start to bring results. Some simple exercise to get started can be for just 15 minutes per day, and some examples are swimming, running, cycling or a brisk work. Even take the dog for a good walk each day. Remember, keep that healthy diet in tact – its the key.
Gradually start building up your exercise from 15 minutes per day to 20 minutes, 25 minutes and so on. Pretty soon, your body will be screaming at you to set new boundaries, and undertake greater physical challenges.
By now, you should be prioritizing your life and making the time to capitalize on what you are achieving and perhaps join the gym and go for more grueling runs. Your body will soon crave more of this and you will soon be on a new and natural high and you WILL feel fantastic.
A new and healthy you can also be the gate way to opening new doors throughout every aspect in your life. Your confidence will improve, your productivity at work will be better, your home and family life could also benefit as a result of a new and healthier you.
For singles looking to embark on a new dimension of happiness, a new health and fitness lifestyle can be attributed to many singles finding themselves again and can give back once lost self confidence which will see you dating new singles and find romance.

Enjoying The Singles Scene
Sunday, August 8th, 2010
So many couples think that it wouldn’t be fun to be single and that everyone should be trying to get married off. While marriage is in many singles future plans, you can enjoy being single while you are! The focus shouldn’t just be on finding someone to settle down with, instead everyone that is single should take the time to really enjoy their independence, as well as the opportunities to meet and really get to know people from all walks of life. The singles scene can encompass everything you want it to from late nights out with friends, sexual exploration, trips abroad, and even the ability to dabble in selfishness.
The singles scene can be a lot of fun if you are willing to embrace it and really enjoy it for what it is. When you are single you can decide on your own what clubs you want to frequent, how you define your relationships, and what you will eat for dinner. If you want to be spontaneous you can, and no one will be inconvenienced by it. You can date someone new every night, or you can casually date just one or two people. These are all positive aspects of being single.
Many singles overlook the positive side of being single, but that is because they are too wrapped up in wanting to be coupled up. When you let go and stop looking for someone that is when you will really start to enjoy life. You can find great singles groups to enjoy activities with, you can go to movies with friends, and enjoy candle lit dinners by yourself or with dear friends. When you stop thinking about being single and start enjoying life is when you become the most attractive and love will find you, if it is meant to be.
When you are single you can enjoy online dating websites where you can post all of your information without obsessing over the fact that you are in fact single! When you approach the single life with excitement other people will find you fascinating and you will inspire others to do the same. When you are single you have all the time in the world to meet people, do new things, and simply enjoy life the way you want it with no compromises. The single scene is a lot of fun, so enjoy it now, before love finds you and changes everything!

Title: Bbc Banned Music: Top Singles Banned by the Bbc
Friday, August 6th, 2010
The British Broadcasting Corporation also known as the BBC is a public broadcasting corporation. Therefore, it allows itself to ban materials that deviate from certain standards of civility. During the years, many singles that were seen as too explicit, distasteful or bear the potential for offending the British public were banned from BBC airplay. Here you can read about some of them.
In 1977, when England was celebrating the Queens Jubilee, the Sex Pistols had released their second single titled God Save the Queen. The single includes controversial lyrics that rhyme the national anthem title with fascist regime. Moreover, the record cover displayed a picture of the Queen with a safety pin stuck in her nose.
The single was found to offensive to be air played by the BBC, but it did not stop it from reaching number two on the BBC official singles chart. According to the myth, God Save the Queen was the top selling single in the UK at the time, but it was held back of number one to avoid controversies.
Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin scandalous duet Je TAime … Moi Non Plus, translated: I love you… me neither, was the first ever number one hit to be banned by the BBC. Although at the time of its release, in 1969, the sexual revolution was celebrated, the British radio still was not able to cope with such explicit lyrics, not to mention Birkins moans and groans.
The BBC ban and The Vatican denounce, did not stop Je TAime … Moi Non Plus from being a top selling single in the UK and worldwide. In October 7, 1969, the single reached number one in the BBC official singles chart. At the same time, it had reached number 69 at the US singles chart.
Je TAime … Moi Non Plus was a major influence on another BBC banned single, Donna Summers disco pioneer from 1976 titled Love to Love You Baby. After counting 23 faked orgasms performed by Summer in Love to Love You Baby, the British Broadcasting Corporation banned the song. However, it did not stop it from becoming a massive hit. Love to Love You Baby reached number four on the UK single charts but peaked to number two on the Billboard pop chart.
Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood is one of the most controversial singles as well as commercially successful singles in history. The BBC did not only ban the song it also did not stop BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read to publicly express his feelings of disgust from the single explicit lyrics. In 1984, Relax stayed in the UK singles charts for 42 weeks. In five of them, it stayed in number one. By the end of 1984, embarrassed Auntie Beeb removed the ban. Relax is still very popular worldwide and it is one of the most recognized symbols of the era. The arguments on whether it gained such a huge success despite the BBC ban or the BBC ban helped promoting it have not been settled yet.
Paul McCartney and the Wings response to the 1972 Bloody Sunday events titled Give Ireland Back to the Irish, was banned by every media resource in the UK. It was forbidden from being broadcast by the BBC, Radio Luxembourg and the Independent Television Authority. In addition, the song title was not allowed to be pronounced on the air, so when it arrived to the BBC Radio 1 chart show it was presented as a record by the group Wings. However, Give Ireland Back to the Irish hit the top of the Irish singles charts.

Why do some people mistake the Singles & Dating section as a personals advertisement site?
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010I’ve seen tons of people posts their pictures on a question in the singles & dating section and introducing themselves and where they lived and that they were looking for a date.
Why do some people mistake singles & dating as a personals advertisement site like craigslist?
Because they feel that is what you are supposed to do when you are on their.
